Blue vervain is a hardy, moisture-loving plant with delicate spikes of blue-violet flowers blooming throughout much of the summer and can be used as a cut flower. Though a biennial, the plant forms colonies by rhizome and easily self-seeds resulting in a perennial presence where it is established. The plant supports hummingbirds, butterflies and native bees and is a larval host for the Common buckeye butterfly. Small mammals and other birds eat its seeds and it is deer resistant.

    This versatile plant, often found in moist meadows and along ponds and streams, can tolerate both periodic drought and flood and also grows in native plantings as well as gardens with medium soils.

Online purchases reserve plants for on-site pick-up only. We are located at W6628 Patchin Road in Wyocena, Wisconsin - about a half hour north of Madison.
